Black Jesus Knocking

Murdocks are getting ready to release their upcoming CD so they finally let me upload Black Jesus Knocking:

I wrote, produced, edited, costume designed, cast tons of kids, sunk $1000, and fell in love with 16mm film making this.

Summer Lovin’

Man, I think the economy is going to collapse soon. So I’m using my credit card and hording my gold.

My picture is the front cover of Oxford American’s Best of the South 2010 issue. I named the picture “Backyard Defenders” because I didn’t know how to title it “I told her to get on his back and look like the war was coming”

The photo itself was an outtake for a photoshoot I did for the new Watch Out For Rockets EP Shaman Shit. Their album is available FREE from Bandcamp. And it is sooo good. I love these boys, I love the music. They are magic. Special thanks to Austin child stars Ryan and Lauren Lee for being my sibling duo.

The album cover was created with the Trichromie color process. I made my RGB filters using Sharpies, which is why there are some pretty sweet striations in the background.

I am about to completely revamp my website. I may make it artsy. I may strip it down all indexhibit style.

Let’s see.

Ok. So I think I’m about to graduate. Yes. That will be quite nice. I turned in my thesis. It has over 120 pictures printed in it plus it’s accompanied by a 70 page paper for a total of 150 pages altogether. It looks pretty sweet bound. Like a little photography magazine of stuff I’ve been looking at for months only on a computer screen and in negative form. Very nice.

So I’m pretty torn about what to do with my life. I am going to Los Angeles, I know that. But I don’t know if I should try and do motion graphics/animation/editing or really try and focus on comedy and acting. Deep down I want to be an artiste director or some crap so that I’m respected and renowned or something but I’m coming to terms with the fact that I’m a loser goofball that makes stupid faces and can do a lot of impersonations. And maybe that’s not that bad… except I could be volunteering in Iraq and Afghanistan or saving the Gulf Coast from the oil spill.

BTW: The Fritzl Babies played at the Future is Analog show. My favorite vids were the Goatherder and the Mother song… the goatherder is just fun for me and Dave and the Mama song, I’ve decided, is very boring, but the projections in the background really suit the song. I need to work on my stage persona… when I’m drunk all my intonations and the little subtleties I could have run into a ditzy drunk version of myself (if there’s a difference)
