Hey! The Zooey Deschanel Show – Episode 2 – Music

Hey! The Zooey Deschanel Show

So I have a new webseries featuring everyone’s favorite indie starlet. It’s called Hey! (The Zooey Deschanel Show.)
We’ve shot four episodes, and I’ll play it by ear to see if I’ll write more. I figured if I didn’t do it, someone would beat me to it… so here you go!

I can’t wait for the barrage of “You’re hideous, Zooey is beautiful, you’re jealous, you wish you were… blah blah” that inevitably comes with parodies on YouTube. I know, I know. She is impeccably gorgeous…

I love the way the intro came out… it was mostly actual stop motion but some of it was too janky because I was in a hurry so I AE’d the motion. I think the combo has a nice children’s television feel to it.

Telepathic War Machine

I went to Austin last week to shoot a music video for Watch Out For Rockets and so I could see my love and Mr. Feeny. It was a successful mission.

And here it is:

It was shot on 8mm Tri-X film with a Canon 514XL-S I found on Craigslist. The Bolex 8mm I already had pooped out after a few seconds of filming with real film, and even after I thought it was working, all the film from it was blank, so I’m glad I made the purchase and put my faith in the Film Gods to secure filmic posterity with the new camera. And I actually really love the camera. It has a nice weight, feel, and it’s super straight-forward to focus. I sort of wish the Exposure Lock, actually, you know, locked… you have to manually hold it. Oh well!

It took Dave hours to shave his legs:

In other news, I’m a production intern on a new show starring Jon Benjamin for Comedy Central with Abso Lutely Productions (Tim & Eric’s company), I just started Level II at UCB, and I have a new web series that’s going to start on Monday. We’ve shot four episodes and depending on how these are received there’s room for more down the road.
