LA!

I moved to LA. It’s weird, I used to dream of moving to LA when I was in middle school, when I thought I could rule the world and be a movie star… then puberty hit and I got gangly and awkward and self-awareness and reality set in.

But I am here after some recent self-esteem boosts and realizing all I want to do in life is make media, whether I’m in it or not. I feel like that’s a solid goal, and I think I needed to have a change of pace from Austin to sort out exactly where I want that to go with it.

Dave and I drove here with my car literally packed to capacity… if you opened the trunk things would fall out; if you opened the back doors things would fall out. It was insane.

We drove to the Grand Canyon and barely made it there before sunset. It was our two year anniversary so that was pretty cool. The Grand Canyon was just unbelievable… people were hardly speaking above a whisper in some sort of awe and reverence.

Then the next day we were driving and saw some signs about the Hoover Dam and decided to go. And since we went, we thought, hell, let’s drive through Vegas. The drive from Vegas to LA was AWFUL… the worst traffic for three solid hours.

Then Dave spent a week in LA and we ate and ate and ate and saw some improv and stand up comedy and bought furniture from Ikea. My futon literally fell apart the first night I slept on it. What a bummer. Seriously, if you are going to sell something that cheap and it is literally made to not hold someone over 120 pounds, just don’t fucking make it. It’s such a waste of time, money, and resources for everyone. And Ikea is fashioned to be just anxiety-inducing enough to thwart me from trying to return it… those assholes.

Dave is back in Texas and now I’m here. I auditioned for Groundlings and got accepted into the school, but signed up for UCB classes to start. And now it’s this fun game of trying to get a job. Let’s see where this is going…
